I use the arpeggiators in Cubase's own instruments a bunch for that sort of thing, use the 'hold' for the longer notes. As there's a paid version of Euro Reakt that already offers the front panel patching I reckon I may be SOL here.

The update yesterday to 6.4 apparently means that Blocks from the user library can be front panel patched when/if they're updated and used in Racks which is awesome but so far all it's meant is if I open the free Euro Reakt blocks in a Rack the Guis are all hosed up.

It has also really made me appreciate the amount of stuff that is needed for even a simple synth patch, the standard tips that get thrown out when people discuss hardware ( you can never have enough VCAs) make so much more sense to me now. I've got super into Reaktor Blocks recently, it's cool to tinker with between calls when I'm working, very zen. That sounds really cool, virtual modulars are a lot of fun for not a lot of money (comparatively). It's a screengrab of 10K I took from Z-Nation ages ago-I can't exactly remember the context of why he looks look like that now I apologize for the derail but I've been meaning to ask for quite a while now. I'm no pianist so I'm not fussed about minikeys, and having that little bit of extra range down to F is nice. My M32 arrived earlier, it complements the Maschine Mikro really well and shock horror actually integrates well with Cubase as a controller too.

Unfortunately you just missed the summer sale, by going through a slightly odd upgrade path (I got some hardware and the lowest tier of paid for Komplete, then realised gently caress it I want more and upgraded to standard) I effectively got a free Maschine Mikro if you compare it to what Komplete costs normally. I've actually had pretty good results just using the Smart Recorder app on my phone making percussion sounds out of banging a zippo on a glass table etc, as long as your recording location is quiet it shouldnt be too hard to roll your own interesting organic percussion with wooden spoons etc NI's West Africa (Kontakt, free Kontakt Player too) has more than you can shake a stick at, its 89 or less with a voucher. It would have fared much better even with the dodgy launch if it wasn't called Massive. I have only had it a couple weeks so thankfully all the stuff that soured "the community" (aka YouTube) at launch was fixed.

I think the half baked launch really didn't help it, missing basic poo poo like a manual or visual envelopes. I have come to see it more as a spiritual successor to Absynth and in this role I think it excels, there's some bonkers stuff at at hand. I quite like Massive X for sound design purposes rather than the basses and leads I use Massive for.

A lot better than I remember?! Takes some finessing and isn't as instantly impressive as STL's Tonality series but it's nowhere near as horrid as I remember, and also has probably the most options of any ampsim for utterly removing any trace of guitar from your tone if that's your bag. I obviously caved and upgraded the Komplete Select I got with Maschine like 2 weeks ago to the standard version and it turns out that Guitar Rig 5 is. The Free Orchestra by PROJECTSAM (runs in free kontakt player too) has some fun bits as well as useful ones, and Spitfire's own free Labs stuff is something I wish I hadn't overlooked for so long-the snippets from Tundra are great. Never hurts to have more flavours of strings. I did the questionnaire thingy for the free BBC Symphony Orchestra on Spitfire's site, interested to see how that is when I get it (there's a 14 day waiting period. NonzeroCircle fucked around with this message at 21:44 on Jun 17, 2020 Come on Cubase, that's like the one thing you need to sort out now stock plugin-wise)ĭBX160 is rude if you want a character compressor (assuming like me your DAW has er, lackluster stock filters. MetaFilter is fantastic, loads of options there to be as subtle or as brutal as you want. It's a multiband exciter/clipper/makebigger-er Infected Mushroom's Pusher is great all round to liven stuff up, whether on individual sounds or on busses. NLS is good for adding some grumpiness to overly polite sounds if you want more 'analogue' in your sound. H Delay is a very solid workhorse delay that does clean as well as character. FlowMotion, the FM synth may be worth a look though I haven't tried it, just to expand the pallette a bit. It really depends on what you already have. I spent a little time with Element and didn't find it did anything spectacular, not a bad synth by any means but there's so many VAs out there.
